Students learn how to describe reflective symmetry in 2D shapes using mirror lines. Learning progresses from finding the lines of symmetry in simple polygons to reflecting shapes in diagonal mirror lines.
The start of the lesson recaps identifying the properties of quadrilaterals using coordinates in the first quadrant. In the plenary students are challenged to create a series of quadrilaterals with different reflective symmetries when three vertices are fixed.
