As learning progresses, the factorisation becomes more challenging as the coefficient of x2is no longer a prime number.

  • All students should be able to solve a quadratic in the form ax2 + bx + c = 0 where a is prime and b and c are both positive.
  • Most students should be able to solve a quadratic in the form ax2+ bx + c = 0 where a is prime.
  • Some students should be able to solve a quadratic in the form ax2 + bx + c = 0 where is not prime.
