              Grade 8 and 9 Calculator Based Problems

              Students are challenged to solve five problems at grades 8 and 9 of the Higher GCSE course.

              The five questions connect the following topics:

            • Solving quadratic equations arising from algebraic fractions
            • Deriving the equation of a tangential line to a circle
            • Using the Cosine rule, exact trigonometric solutions and surds to calculate a perimeter
            • Calculating the volume, mass and density of composite solid involving a frustum and hemisphere
            • Using interpolation to compare a histogram with a box plot.
