              Plotting Straight Lines from Two Points

              Students begin to plot equations in the form ax + by + c = 0 substituting in x =0  along the y axis and y = 0 along the x axis .  The resultant line is joined between the two coordinates to represent the function.  As learning progresses students consider the gradient and intercept of the graph from its equation.
              Differentiated Learning Objectives
              • All students should be able to plot a straight-line graph in the form ax+by=c using two points on the axes.
              • Most students should be able to plot a positive or negative graph in the form ax±by=c using two points on the axes.
              • Some students should be able to plot graphs in the form of ±ax±by=±c where the variables are not integers.
